YOUR FIRST CONSULT

Welcome to Family Matters Law Group!

We pride ourselves on fighting hard for you in your family law case. You deserve to know that, no matter how bleak things may seem at the moment, you do have a future ahead of you and you have an ally that will help you fight for your children and your assets.

MAKING A PERSONAL CONNECTION

As you prepare for your first consultation, there are some important things to consider. We don’t look at your first consultation as just a meeting—it’s the beginning of a relationship. Think of your first consultation as an interview—you are looking for an attorney who can handle your case (and you have choices), and we are looking for a client that is a good fit for our office (because we don’t accept every case).

We pride ourselves on the personal experience we provide for our clients. Your first consultation is not just a chance to have a face to face meeting—it’s an opportunity to see if things “click” between us. We only take cases where we feel a significant and compassionate connection. It’s hard to fight effectively if you aren’t 100% behind the client. Your future is at stake—you want a law firm that doesn’t just see you in transactional terms, but advocates for you on a personal level.

MAKING BIG DECISIONS

Both you and our law firm will have some big decisions to make. Your choice of attorney can make or break your case, and we want to make sure you’re a good client fit.

Please feel free to bring a “stakeholder” with you to the first meeting. A stakeholder is a close friend or relative who can assist you in making major decisions. It’s important to have someone who is concerned but not personally involved that can keep a clear head and help make decisions from a logical point of view, not an emotional one.

Of course, we have clients who come into our office knowing full well what they want to do and they don’t feel like they need anyone’s help in making decisions. That’s completely OK, too.

After we’ve had a chance to listen to your story and your immediate concerns, we will:
